After contriving her own reawakening, Zeph wakes Turin (Patrick Garrow) and Pree (Thom Allison). Between the three of them, they locate a hidden nest of Black Root ships being used to seed the clouds of Westerley with mind-wipe chemicals, and blow up about a third of them in an attempt to slow down the terraforming process. This makes The Lady aware that the rebellion is bigger than Dutch and the Jaqobis brothers. (The hidden airfield is located at latitude 43.7 and longitude 79.13 on Westerley. On Earth, 43.7 North and 79.13 West is a spot very close to Toronto.)
Meanwhile, Dutch and the boys fail to escape from what turns out to be a prison ship. Their escape attempt impresses the Warden (played by Rachael Ancheril, who also plays twin witches on WYNONNA EARP). The Warden enlists their aid to stop an assassination, which they manage to do in short order, despite being outed as Killjoys to the prison population.
Would-be assassin Calvert (Anastasia Phillips) offering D’Avin advice on how to survive the prison psych ward is the best scene of the episode. (Phillips was also Vera Burr in the 2012 Global TV series BOMB GIRLS.) Continue reading →
Pree (Thom Alison), the only character whose appearance has changed drastically, is now head Killjoy in Old Town
Westerly has succumbed to a complex, shared delusion, designed to turn its population into a workforce to terraform the moon. An alien program has hijacked people’s brains, but only the cerebral cortex seems to be affected by it. The limbic system is still functioning normally. (Proof of this is that Gared and Pree are still in love, and Zeph still has a crush on Dutch.) This has been happening for forty-three days, according to Kendry (Mayko Nguyen) who is holed up on Arkyn with her son Jaq (Jaeden Noel). Kendry has retained her fighting skills, and uses them effectively against The Lady’s minions. (Johnny has lost such skills because his new personna has no need for them. He can’t even figure out how to fire the type of gun he once carried as a Killjoy.) Continue reading →
Hannah John-Kamen will be Dr. Sophie Hart in SAS: RED NOTICE, a film based on the 2012 novel by Andy McNab, about Sergeant Tom Buckingham (Sam Heughan), who plans to propose marriage once he and his girlfriend arrive in Paris. (Dr. Hart seems to be a re-named version of Dr. Delphine Prideux, Buckingham’s girlfriend in the book.) His plans are delayed when the train taking them from London to Paris is hijacked by The Black Swans, a group of mercenaries led by Laslo Antonov, whose plan is to blow up the Channel Tunnel. (Ruby Rose is a character named Grace, and one synopsis of the film says that the group seizing the train is let by someone called Grace Lewis.) Noel Clarke (DR.WHO’s Mickey Smith) is also in the cast. Filmed in London, Paris, and Budapest, SAS: RED NOTICE will be released by Sky Cinema in the UK sometime next year. Continue reading →
