Anna Hopkins (Fairuza in “Johnny Dangerously“) will be Angela in 2 episodes of FOR THE RECORD, a series of six, ten-minute episodes is about the “life playlist” of an interconnected cast of characters. Each episode focuses on the album or song that provides a soundtrack for a pivotal moment in the characters’ lives. In the first episode (titled “There’s Always Spotify“) Angela and Ray, who have recently broken up, reconnect to divide their prized record collection. One album, “Pet Sounds” by the Beach Boys, seems non-negotiable, forcing the couple to address the root cause of their breakup. Karen LeBlanc (Banyon Grey in “Attack the Rack“) appears in episodes three and four as Henrietta, mother of Sara (Moni Ogunsuyi). All six episode of FOR THE RECORD will be available on Snackable TV in Canada on 24 October.
Lara Jean Chorostecki (Charlie Volford in “It Takes A Pillage”) will be Louise in Guillermo del Toro‘s NIGHTMARE ALLEY, a remake of the 1947 film noir of the same name that starred Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell. In the remake, Power’s character (The Great Stanton) is played by Bradley Cooper, and Blondell’s character Zeena, a pseudo-psychic and astrologer, is played by Toni Collette. Based on the 1945 novel by William Lindasy Gresham, it is the story of a young carny (Cooper) with a talent for manipulating people. Stanton teams up with a psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who turns out to be even more dangerous than he is. David Hewlett (Talbor Calchek on DARK MATTER) is also in the cast. Filming of NIGHTMARE ALLEY has resumed in Toronto.
Elena Juatco (N’oa in “The Harvest”) will be Jackie in Jesse D. Ikeman’s romance INN FOR CHRISTMAS, about Mandy (Jonna Walsh), a successful young woman from Miami on her way up the corporate ladder. She is finally convinced by her Gram (Jayne Eastwood) to return home for Christmas. Mandy has an ulterior motive for her return home. The picturesque local Inn is up for sale and she wants to acquire it for her company. Once home she runs into her old high school rival Lucas (Jesse Hutch) who also wants to purchase the Inn. (One presumes they will develop feelings for one another.) Tammy Isbell (BITTEN) is also in the cast. Filmed in Hamilton and Dundas, Ontario, INN FOR CHRISTMAS will be released in Canada later this year.

Rick Howland (Dej Serafan in “How To Kill Friends And Influence People“) will be Mr. Hai in the comedy/fantasy CAPTAIN TSUNAMI’S ARMY. Not much information is available about this. The tag line is “They’ve enlisted. They just don’t know it yet.” CAPTAIN TSUNAMI’S ARMY is directed by Aaron Sherry, and was filmed in Sun Valley, California. No release date has been announced.
Tori Anderson (Sabine in “Schooled”) will be Scarlett Bailey in Caroline Labrèche’s romantic comedy YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDESMAID. Bailey, a New York City food influencer, returns to her hometown for her sister Maddie’s wedding to find that her parents have sold the family home to none other than her childhood flame Liam (Kristopher Turner), who has turned it into a B&B. Coincidentally, her sister (Julia Borsellino) has lost her wedding venue days before the event. The event is moved to the B&B and Scarlett begins to have feelings for Liam as she works with him to make her sister’s wedding a success. YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDESMAID was written by Nastasha Baron and filmed in Montreal, and should be released early next year.
