Grant Bowler (Joshua Nolan) is Nua’s father Gideon Hamilton in “Side Effects” and “Blowout”, two episodes of the recently cancelled ABC series THE BAKER AND THE BEAUTY (the American version of the 2013 Israeli comedy Lehiyot Ita which translates literally as “Being With Her”). The show is about an improbable relationship between Daniel, a baker, and Nua, a supermodel. In “Blowout”, the bakery is shut down because of asbestos, and Noa travels to see her father. There is an online petition to save the show and at this writing it has more than 156,000 signatures. “Baker and the Beauty is a show that depicts Latin families as warm, lovable, full of joy and compassion and humor,” said Nathalie Kelley (who stars as Nua) in a statement. “A cancellation by ABC means that there are now no shows on the networks with a Latinx cast. At a time when the public is marching in the streets demanding representation and diversity this is an extremely tone deaf decision.” All episodes of THE BAKER AND THE BEAUTY can be streamed for free on the ABC website.
Graham Greene (Rafe McCawley) will be Joe in LE LOUP ET LE LION. The film is about Alma, who finds a lion cub originally destined to joing the Vancouver circus in the woods near her home. A great friendship develops between the three unlikely friends, but the story takes a different turn when the animals are captured and separated from each other. “Never before have the two big predators of cinema met in a movie…It will be magical, “ Gilles de Maistre, director and producer. “It’s a film without special effects. We shoot with real wolves and real lions in an inhabited and civilized place. It takes permits, enclosures and infrastructure to accommodate them. It’s complicated to get permissions, but despite everything, things are still going quite well. It must first be said that I was not looking for an easy way with this idea,” LE LOUP ET DE LION was written by Prune de Maestri (wife of Gilles) and will be released in the US on 17 July 2021 (and in France two weeks earlier).
