Susie (Ksenia Solo) listens in on Hynek’s conversations with Quinn .
Professor Hynek figures out that the mysterious sequence of numbers he found in the first episode represents coordinates located in the interior of Antarctica. Just as he is about to investigate this discovery further, Mimi knocks at the door of his study (which she is surprised to find locked). Captain Quinn has arrived to whisk Hynek away to a small town in West Virginia, where the latest UFO sighting has occurred. Susie Miller (Ksenia Solo) shows up shortly after Hynek and Quinn leave, and insists that Mimi show her around town. In the car, Mimi is asked where she’d like to go. “You know, there’s this one place,” she says. “They read poetry, serve cocktails in soup cans, and smoke reefer. I’ve never been. I’ve only heard of it.”
Mimi and Susie preparing to switch drivers while the car is in motion.
After they arrive at the club, the two of them have drinks served (disappointingly) in glasses, not soup cans. Mimi (Laura Mennell) is obviously uncomfortable with the atmosphere of the place, and Susie suggests she needs to loosen up. Susie leaves, saying she’ll be back in a minute. Then two guys sit down next to Mimi and start to make out. Either because of that, or perhaps because a strange woman whispers in her ear offering drugs, Mimi decides to leave without waiting for Susie to return. She also sees Susie talking to a guy in a hat who looks out of place. so it is also possible that she suspects Susie has lured her out of the house for nefarious reasons (which is true). Susie’s associate has placed a bug in Hynek’s study. Continue reading →
Rukiya Bernard (Doc) will be Danielle in FREAKY FRIDAY, the third remake of the 1976 film which starred Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster. This one is about Katherine (Heidi Blickenstaff) and Ellie (Cozi Zuehlsdorff), a mother and daughter who find themselves each in the other’s body after both express a wish to live the other’s life. (The magical device that does the switching is a pair of necklaces in the original film, fortune cookies in the 2003 adaptation, and an hourglass in this one.) This lastest incarnation of FREAKY FRIDAY is a musical (based on last year’s stage musical with music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorkey), and will premiere on the Disney Channel on 10 August. A trailer is available on YouTube.

Bernard is also Megan, Cara’s best friend, in ONE WINTER WEEKEND. Cara (Taylor Cole), who writes for a women’s magazine, is challenged by her editor to write about her decision to refrain from dating for a while after she is dumped on New Years Eve. (She calls it a “dating detox”.) Carla, looking for inspiration, books an impromptu ski weekend with Megan, but the two discover they’ve inadvertently double booked their chalet with two eligible men, Sean (Dweshane Williams) and Ben (Jack Turner). Then the four of them get snowed in. ONE WINTER WEEKEND will next air on The Hallmark Channel on Friday, 31 August at 4pm. Continue reading →
Ben (Alex Roe) watches intently as Ryn eats a peach. When Ryn first arrived in Bristol Cove, she sniffed at and rejected fruit that was sitting in a bowl at Helen’s apartment, and the food Helen bought for Ryn consisted of fish and shellfish exclusively. Seagrass is the only ocean plant that bears fruit, so Ryn should find the taste of a peach quite unusual. (The seeds contained in seagrass fruit taste like water chestnuts.) If she finds peaches digestible and palatable, it likely means that Ryn’s diet normally includes both plants and animals. Continue reading →
