Amos (Wes Chatham) executes a (mad?) scientist, bringing back memories of Miller and his execution of Anthony Dresden (the scientist in charge of researching the protomolecule on Eros) in “Doors & Corners” (Episode 2.2). Afterward, Miller said that he killed Dresden, “not because he was talking crazy, but because he was making sense.” Scientists have not fared well on THE EXPANSE. Those that went to Venus to investigate following the impact of Eros on that planet, were killed when their ship was disassembled by the protomolecule (which itself seems mad-scientist-like, often showing a disregard for the well-being of living things). Interestingly, the scientist who remains alive is Paolo Cortazar, who had his capacity for empathy surgically removed. He is still (so far as we know) in the custody of Anderson Dawes on Ceres.
