Hilary Jardine (Susan Jackson) will be Mildred in two episodes of the satirical comedy UPLOAD, a ten-episode series starring Andy Allo as Nora and Robbie Amell as Nathan. The show is set in a future where people can upload themselves into the afterlife of their choice. Nora works customer service for a high-end virtual reality environment. After Nathan is killed in the crash of his self-driving car, his girlfriend uploads him permanently into Nora’s virtual reality. Creator Greg Daniels told Danielle Turchiano of Variety: “Amazon is the perfect place to make UPLOAD, because of their strong creative team, and because it’s a company that could actually one day host a digital afterlife. If I get in good with them, I’m hoping for a big discount on my first thousand years.” UPLOAD is currently filming in Vancouver

Whatever happened to siren song? It does not figure in this episode and has not been mentioned for a while, but the memory of it drove Decker to suicide, and seems to still be troubling Chris Mueller. Ben has a recording of it that he plays from time to time so that he can keep his head on straight. The only mermaids we have heard sing are Ryn and her late sister Donna. Are mermaids like people in that only some of them can carry a tune? Imagine what might happen if an advertising agency ever got hold of Ben’s recording, and figured out what it could do with addictive sound.
A navy researcher (Edwin Perez) takes Ryn’s temperature (92.2 F). Nicole remarks that Ryn “doesn’t seem cold”, and the research assistant suggests that she “must be well insulated”
On the night before the planned attack on the drilling rig, Ben and Ryn and Maddie finally have sex. One assumes that Ben used a condom and that would make it unlikely that Ryn (or Maddie) will become pregnant as a result. (A pregnant Ryn would be an interesting plot twist, though.) Earlier in the day, Ryn had her first experience with Navy researchers studying her cell-regeneration capabilities. It did not go well. (Ryn had made an agreement with Nicole to participate in the experiments in exchange for having charges dropped against Ben and the gang in the death of Xander’s father.) Nicole (Natalee Linez) comes into conflict with her superior officer (Michael J. Rogers) over how to proceed with the research. Continue reading →
Sheriff Bishop is out of town for a psych evaluation that will determine whether he keeps his job. He will return to a lot of trouble. His wife Susan, unable to cope with the secretiveness of her family, relapsed and called her dealer (Glen, played by Christopher Rosamund), and later visited him in his motel room (to get a fix, not for sex) and somehow left her wedding ring there.
Maddy decided to help her mother retrieve the ring, and Ryn tagged along. Glen returned while Maddy was still in his room and decided to attack her. Ryn rescued Maddie, and killed Glen in the process. It was self-defense, but Ryn’s prints are probably still on file from when she tossed that other guy through a car windshield and it is doubtful that Acting Sheriff Staub (who did not appear in this episode) will be inclined to let her go again, even if Maddie explains the situation (unless someone explains mermaids to her).
