Avan Jogia (Roman Mercer) is Danny in THE ARTISTS’ WIFE, the story of Claire (Lena Olin), whose husband, an acclaimed abstract painter (played by Bruce Dern) is diagnosed with dementia and might not be able to finish the paintings for his final show. Claire keeps her husband’s illness a secret from the art community, and tries to help him reconnect with his estranged daughter (Juliet Rylance) and her son. (Jogia is the grandson’s nanny.) As her husband’s illness progresses, Claire, once a promising painter in her own right, must decide whether to remain in the shadows. The film is now in post-production, and should be ready for release this summer.
Jogia is also bad boy musician Berkeley in the horror comedy ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP, a sequel to ZOMBIELAND (2009). Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Emma Stone are back as Columbus, Tallahassee, and Wichita, respectively. Berkeley (reportedly) will be romantically involved with Abigail Breslin‘s character Little Rock. (Characters are mostly named after cities. Zoey Deutch will be Madison.) Bill Murray, who died in the original film will somehow return for the sequel, as the gang moves to the American heartland to battle “evolved zombies”. ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP will be released in the US on 11 October. Continue reading →
Sharon Taylor will be Rachel in TILL EX DO US PART, which stars Kelly Sullivan as Sophia, a woman accused of assaulting Claire (Anna von Hooft), whom her husband Kyle (Dan Payne) slept with once. Claire engineered the incident with Sophia (along with a series of other attacks on herself) in an effort to frame her rival and keep Kyle for herself. When the ruse fails, Claire attacks her rival directly. TILL EX DO US PART premieres on Lifetime on 28 October at 8/7c. A trailer is available on YouTube.
Taylor will also be Cynthia, Jann Arden‘s ex-girlfriend, on CTV‘s upcoming comedy series JANN. Arden plays a fictionalized version of herself in the show, and her character is described as “a newly single singer/songwriter trying to revive her career while dealing with her mother’s early stages of dementia”. Also in the cast are Zoie Palmer, Elena Juatco, and Patrick Gilmore. Arden insisted that the show be shot in her home town, Calgary. Asked why, she told Eric Volmers of the Calgary Herald: “Calgary has been used in film, but it’s never Calgary. In Fargo, it’s North Dakota, in Wynonna Earp, it’s Purgatory — wherever the (expletive) that is. As far as Calgary being a character, we talk about the Saddledome and we’re shooting in locations throughout the city. It’s so memorable. It’s another character in this show.” Production began in September, and JANN will air on CTV in early 2019. Continue reading →
