Delle Seyah names her son Ozzman Kin Rit combining the name of her grandfather with Aneela’s family name. After an unsuccessful attempt at teaching him etiquette, she hands him a small metal object on a chain and says: “This is in case you are ever in trouble, and need my help. Emergencies only. And it has to be our little secret.” Then she makes use of an untraceable ship provided by D’Avin to get her back to Qresh, but, as she is leaving, she says that’s not where she’s going. In episode 4.1, the story Khlyen told Dutch began in a spaceport, (see previous post) and in the background a PA announcer said “Last call for boarding for the Q Cluster.” As Delle Seyah walks toward her ship, another PA announcer says exactly the same thing. Delle Seyah’s child (Jaeden Noel) undergoes accelerated aging (zero to sixteen years in one day). To prevent this process from turning him into an octogenarian within a week, One of Pip’s old business acquaintances, Kravn, is consulted (kidnapped). When Pip knew him, Kravn was a human specializing in illegal bio-weapons, but since then, Kravn has uploaded his consciousness into his computer system (making him impervious to the effects of his own inventions). John manages by trickery to download the weapons maker into portable storage and brings him on board Lucy. (Kravn is voiced by KILLJOYS writer Julian Doucet.)
For the first time, Lucy (Tansen McDonough) gets to interact with another cybernetic being who is on her level. (John describes Kravn’s uploaded human mind as being “way beyond an A.I..”) When Kravn is reluctant to help with the rapid aging problem, Lucy tells Kravn that he is stored in her Random Access Memory. “One cache purge,” she says, “and I overwrite you with cookie recipes.” If that is so, Lucy is likely larger and more complex than Kravn. She might also have originated as an uploaded human consciousness.
To support his extraordinary rate of growth, the child (someone please give him a name) must have consumed at least 50 kilograms of some sort of food. Pippin comes into the galley looking for something for the kid and finds nothing appropriate to eat or drink. “Do you seriously have no drinks that are non-alcoholic,” he asks, “or have y’all just been drunk the entire time I’ve known you?”Continue reading →
