(Jovanna Huguet, Paula Giroday, and Fiona Vroom)
Jovanna Huguet (aka Jovanna Burke) will be Administrator Pamela Phillips in Episode 4.6 of GIRLFRIENDS GUIDE TO DIVORCE. (Season Four of the series will premiere on Bravo TV sometime in July.)
And Burke will star as Cora in 13 MILES, a fictional sports drama set in the world of triathletes. After breaking it off with her long-term boyfriend, Cora finds herself questioning her purpose in life. After a long evening run, she returns home, sweaty and sore, but inspired. Driven by a newly discovered competitive spirit and a new community found through running, Cora finds an inner strength she never knew she had, and begins to train for the Iron-distance triathlon (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run) as a means of reshaping her self-image. Written and directed by Helena Thom and Anthony Epp, 13 MILES is currently filming in and around Vancouver, and is expected to be released later this year. A trailer is available on YouTube.
Paula Giroday is Bobby G in MS. MATCHED, a made-for-TV movie about wedding planner Libby (Alexa PenaVega) who makes a living designing extravagantly romantic weddings for her clients. She falls for Ben (Shawn Roberts), the author of a book about getting married on the cheap. (She falls for him before reading his book.) MS. MATCHED will next air on The Hallmark Channel on 10 June at 1pm. — Giroday will also appear as a businesswoman in Episode 4.9 of the Audience Network series ROGUE. In the episode, titled “The Third Man”, Theresa (Thandie Newton) searches for Ethan, who has gone into hiding after the bombing of the Federal building. All episodes of ROGUE can be streamed online by DirectTV and ATT subscribers.
Giroday is also part of THE DARLINGS CABARET, an intimate and interactive cabaret-style show with performances every third Tuesday of the month at Guilt & Company in Vancouver.
Fiona Vroom will be Sandy Kim in the first episode of ALTERED CARBON, a ten episode series based on the 2002 Cyberpunk science fiction novel by Richard K. Morgan. (The screenplay for the first episode was written by Laeta Kalogridis who also wrote the screenplay for SHUTTER ISLAND.) In Morgan’s novel, the human mind has been digitized, making it transferable from one body to the next. A man named Laurens Bancroft has apparently killed himself in a way that resulted in the destruction of his digitized memory. He is reincarnated from a backup that is 48 hours out of date. Left with no knowledge of his actions during the previous two days, Bancroft hires a long dead expert investigator to prove that his apparent suicide was actually a murder. ALTERED CARBON will premiere on Netflix this year, but the exact date has not been determined.
And Vroom will star as Marci Belle in PSYCHO WEDDING CRASHER, the story of a dressmaker (Jenna, played by Heather Morris) who meets bride-to-be Marci and her boyfriend Glenn (Jason Cermak), and becomes convinced that Glenn is the man of her dreams. She begins to devise plans to have Glenn all to herself, even if that means Marci has to die. (Paula Giroday also appears in the film as Chelsea Allen.) PSYCHO WEDDING CRASHER will air on the Lifetime Movie Network later this year.
