The gang is almost entirely reunited, but not with Vanessa, and not for long. Jolene (Carolyn Cave) and Doc (Rukiya Bernard) finally get back together, and Julius (Aleks Paunovic) is brought to Crooked Falls by a puzzled, scar-faced vampire who wants to know why this particular human won’t turn into a vampire when bitten. Young Callie turns up as well, having somehow acquired the ability to repair electronics.
Callie shows Jesse how to repair the radio, and this seems like a good thing, until she gives their co-ordinates to the first person she contacts. (The sound of a helicopter approaching at the end of the episode prompts Axel to exclaim “damned apocalypse!” Could this be the same helicopter that was used to kidnap Vanessa in episode 2.9? If so, it’s a good thing that Scarlett and The Boss have left on an excursion to prevent Dimitri from using the key to free The Elder. If Crooked Falls is captured, they won’t be. Continue reading →
Lucky (Andrea Ware) knocks out Joline (Caroline Cave) with one punch, preventing her from sounding the alarm as Flesh and Mohammed escape. (Flesh had been imprisoned after he revealed his vampire past, and Joline was in enough trouble after allowing Doc to make off with blood to feed Axel, so she wasn’t about to try to help anyone else.) Lucky’s punch ties in nicely with the reveal that Julius was once a professional boxer. (We find out that Julius became a vampire after throwing a fight in 1936 to get money to pay some less-than-charitable nuns to continue caring for his dying mother.) Continue reading →
Doc (Rukiya Bernard) has made a new life for herself repairing the wounded after the attack on the Citadel. She meets Joline (Caroline Cave), a resistance fighter, and they are just about to get close when Callie (Macie Juiles), who was last seen in Episode 1.6, shows up and recognizes Doc. Callie was rescued by Axel of all people. Axel is still a vampire, but he is a very disciplined vampire and he definitely holds a grudge against the doctor.
Other things happen in the episode, but not that many. Atanasia is killed by a masked, sword-wielding assailant. Axel runs through the blood Doc steals for him more quickly than Doc expects. He will need to either feed, or be bitten by Vanessa very soon. (Doc and Axel don’t know where Vanessa is.) Mohammed keeps giving himself suicide missions to atone for previous sins, but he keeps surviving them. He is currently being protected by Flesh and Lucky. Continue reading →
