Michaela (Heather Doerksen), having just had her heart removed for safe-keeping, realizes she is under attack
Violet (Keeya King) and Ivory (Jennifer Cheon Garcia Warn) go to the place they believe Hansen is being held to free him from captivity, and stumble into an opportunity. Michaela is in the process of undergoing what Ivory calls a Setite ritual to remove her heart and store it in a safe place to prevent herself from being staked.
**Setites are followers of the Egyptian god Set (aka Suetekh), and outside of fiction (e.g. The Adrian Trilogy by Lyn Gibson and several tabletop and video games) there is no known connection between Set and vampires.
Once Michaela’s heart is removed, Violet and Ivory attack, and defeat Michaela and her minions in short order. (A stake through the heart apparently disables vampires but does not kill them. Violet stakes Michaela’s boxed heart and it causes her to stop fighting, making it easy for Ivory to behead her.) Continue reading →
Helen (Rena Owen) at Klesco Oil’s ill-fated celebration in Bristol Cove
Whatever happened to siren song? It does not figure in this episode and has not been mentioned for a while, but the memory of it drove Decker to suicide, and seems to still be troubling Chris Mueller. Ben has a recording of it that he plays from time to time so that he can keep his head on straight. The only mermaids we have heard sing are Ryn and her late sister Donna. Are mermaids like people in that only some of them can carry a tune? Imagine what might happen if an advertising agency ever got hold of Ben’s recording, and figured out what it could do with addictive sound.
A navy researcher (Edwin Perez) takes Ryn’s temperature (92.2 F). Nicole remarks that Ryn “doesn’t seem cold”, and the research assistant suggests that she “must be well insulated”
On the night before the planned attack on the drilling rig, Ben and Ryn and Maddie finally have sex. One assumes that Ben used a condom and that would make it unlikely that Ryn (or Maddie) will become pregnant as a result. (A pregnant Ryn would be an interesting plot twist, though.) Earlier in the day, Ryn had her first experience with Navy researchers studying her cell-regeneration capabilities. It did not go well. (Ryn had made an agreement with Nicole to participate in the experiments in exchange for having charges dropped against Ben and the gang in the death of Xander’s father.) Nicole (Natalee Linez) comes into conflict with her superior officer (Michael J. Rogers) over how to proceed with the research. Continue reading →
Vanessa has been having vivid dreams that are quite like visions. She has one of those about Susan, and in that dream, she and Susan seem to be lovers. (Maybe there could be some webisodes focusing on Vanessa’s dreams?) In the dream, Susan tells her: “You woke me up. Now I wanna do the same for you.” Susan leads her to the red door and urges her to go through. When Vanessa actually returns to the The Farm (she was last there in episode 1.9), with Axel and Doc tagging along, she finds that the much dreamed about door is coded to open with the number on her military file along with her name. She also finds her sister. Continue reading →
