Dominique Provost-Chalkley (Waverly) will be the as-yet-unnamed seven-months-pregnant girlfriend of Dara’s ex-husband in LIKE A HOUSE ON FIRE. Sarah Sutherland stars as Dara, who returns home after a two year separation from her husband (played by Jared Abrahamson) in hopes of reconnecting with her family. But when she gets there, she finds that her husband is in a new relationship and her daughter doesn’t recognize her. Amanda Brugel (Rita in THE HANDMAID’S TALE) is also in the cast. Written and directed by Jesse Noah Klein, LIKE A HOUSE ON FIRE is currently filming in North Bay, Ontario, and should be released early next year.
Provost-Chalkley will also be Sue in SEASON OF LOVE, a light-hearted, queer women’s, romantic comedy with six main characters: Iris (Emily Goss), Mardou (Laur Allen), Lou (Jessica Clark), Kenna (Sandra Mae Frank), Janey (Janelle Marie), and Sue. The six of them deal with their love lives in loosely connected stories set between Christmas and New Years. Janey comes home from college for her cousin Iris’ wedding, and wouldn’t mind reconnecting with her long-time girlfriend Sue. But Sue, a musician who makes her living busking, is preoccupied with trying to find a way to pay her mother’s medical bills. Sue sings beautifully, but suffers from crippling anxiety that prevents her from singing in front of a large audience, so when a private video is leaked and becomes a viral sensation, she finds it difficult to cope. SEASON OF LOVE will be released in the US on 30 November. Continue reading →
