When Ryn sings, her cortisol levels are reduced. She regains control of her aggressive tendencies after singing to Maddie, who then begins having hallucinations, prompting Ben to get Nicole and the Navy to analyze the song (which he has previously recorded) and its effects on humans. Ryn returns to the sea and brings back Eliza (Georgia Waters) to help. Eliza is a healer, but can do nothing for Ben and Maddie because the song is too strong in their heads. (He was 13 at the time.) The loss of his sister, for which he blames himself, explains Axel’s dedication to protecting Vanessa. Axel assures Scarlett that his relationship with Vanessa is platonic.
