Hilary Jardine (The Elder disguised as Susan in “Fresh Tendrils”) will be Claudette Fletcher, a former State Department employee turned freelance consultant, in the eighth and final season of HOMELAND. The series stars Claire Danes as Carrie Matheson, a bipolar CIA operative. At the start of the final season, Carrie is recovering from seven months in a Russian gulag when National Security Advisor Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) asks for her help in engaging the Taliban in peace negotiations. Aleks Paunovic (Julius) will be Detective Osgard in HARD POWDER, an English-language adaptation of the 2014 Norwegian black comedy “In Order of Disappearance” (aka Kraftidioten). In the US version, Nels (Liam Neeson), a Colorado snowplow operator, takes the law into his own hands after his son is murdered by a drug cartel. Nels sets out to find those responsible and inadvertently ignites a gang war. Directed by Hans Petter Moland, and filmed in British Columbia and Alberta, HARD POWDER will be released in Australia and New Zealand on 14 February. Kraftidioten can be streamed on Netflix.
Paunovic is also Bojan Boscovic, “a large, fearsome looking man with frostbite scars and stumped ears”, in the TV version of the 2013 movie SNOWPIERCER, which was set in a future where a failed climate-change experiment has killed everyone on the planet except for a fortunate few who managed to board a train that continually circles the globe, powered by a perpetual motion engine. In the TV series, Bojan is a Breachworker, performing one of the most dangerous jobs on the train. He’s used to the cold and hazards of the job, and comfortable enough to joke about the risk. The show will star Jennifer Connolly and Daveed Diggs. Graeme Manson (co-creator of ORPHAN BLACK) has replaced Josh Friedmann as showrunner. The pilot will be reshot (the new version just had its first readthrough), and will now be directed by James Hawes. The ten-episode series will air on TNT sometime next year. Outside the US, SNOWPIERCER will be available on Netflix. Continue reading →
THE CROSSING – Season 1 Episode 1 – SPOILERS
Forty-seven people wash up on the beach near the small Oregon coastal town of Port Canaan. (Four hundred dead bodies wash up as well.) The survivors are not shy about revealing that they come from nearly two centuries in the future. Caleb (Marcuis Harris), the most articulate of the new arrivals, says: “We heard that someone had discovered something, a process, a way to bend time…People traveled from all over to get to the site. People with no other way out. We were the first group to attempt it. We knew there would be risks. But no one expected to arrive how we did – in the water beneath the surface. Something went wrong.”
Another refugee describes the time travel process: “They packed us onto the platform and took us into the ground – the ‘threshold’ they called it. The sound started and it was like cracks of thunder, over and over.” No one expected to materialize under the sea, One supposes they were lucky the machine’s error landed them in the water and not inside solid rock.
