Battlestar Galactica was bad in its first incarnation as the Ponderosa in space, and it was worse in its second life as Survivor: Cylon. The science was very bad. And military folk, including officers, displayed an extraordinary lack of discipline.
But that’s over. Now we have Caprica, which, amazingly enough, is intelligent science fiction. So if SyFy can make something as good as Caprica, why do they afflict us with drivel like Haven? (I have stopped watching that show entirely now. I will tune in again when notified that Scully is going to turn up in Haven and kick Audrey’s butt.) Haven is nonsense. There is no possible physical explanation for the events in the show. Taken individually, one could develop an explanation, but the next episode will be sure to destroy that. It’s not even spooky. And the FBI has now decided to go after paranormal phenomena? Mulder and Scully pursued aliens and government conspiracies the possibliities of which had some grounding in scientific fact. Despite the silly Ghosthunters (also on SyFy), paranoral stuff could be given scientific underpinning. This show just doesn’t bother.
