CTV DRAMA ‘MOTIVE’ PICKED UP BY ABC
“The essential fact is to get real suspense you must let the audience have information.”
–Alfred Hitchcock
Each episode of MOTIVE, the new drama premiering after the Super Bowl on CTV 3 February, begins by revealing both the killer and the victim. The mystery addressed in each story is not the identity of the criminal, but the perpetrator’s motive and method. ABC will air at least 13 episodes of the show this summer.
The show stars Lauren Holly (Sadie in LOST GIRL episode #27 Midnight Lamp) as Dr. Betty Rogers, Vancouver Medical Examiner. (Does anyone remember the last male M.E. on television? I think it might have been Quincy.) Her investigative ally is Detective Angie Flynn played by Kristin Lehman. (I’m sure the name has nothing at all to do with the fact that Angie Harmon plays a similar character on RIZZOLI & ISLES. Pure coincidence.) This detective has a teenaged son, and drives a classic Oldsmobile Hurst which is devoid of modern technological additions like bluetooth . I will always remember Lehman for her 1998 role as Invisigoth on THE X-FILES.
Angie’s partner Oscar Vega is played by Louis Ferreira (Assistant FBI Director John Pollock on 1-800-MISSING).
An original MOTIVE 8-part webseries dealing with a long-forgotten unsolved case will be launched sometime in March.
The series’ first episode is entitled Creeping Tom. Thus far there are no further details.
Lauren Holly recently starred in the Lifetime TV Movie LAYOVER, in which she plays a hotel executive who has to deal with the Russian mob. Also known as ABDUCTED, the film is expected to soon be available on DVD.
