Tim Rozon (Doc Holliday) is Nick Roman in THE SURREALTOR. Nick owns the Roman Agency, a realty company specializing in “metaphysically encased” properties. The Agency employs a research scientist (Father Phil Orley, played by Adam Korson), and a tech specialist (August Ripley, played by Maurice Dean Wint), who makes ghost detectors and other devices that are sometimes successful at ending hauntings. (Wint is also Marcie Diggs’ father in the CBC series DIGGSTOWN.) The main supposition seems to be that ghosts are part of the natural world and are subject to its rules. The Agency’s office manager is Zooey L’Enfant (Savannah Basley). Susan Ireland (Sarah Levy) is a realtor who does not believe in ghosts, and one of the first houses the Roman Agency will deal with is a lakeside property belonging to Megan Donovan (Tennille Read), a med student who inherited it from her grandfather.
Melanie Scrofano will direct two episodes. Scrofano will also appear in one episode as Harper North, the owner of a haunted house. Other directors will be Paolo Barzman (who directed the WYNONNA EARP episode “War Paint”), and Paul Fox (director of the LOST GIRL episode “Original Skin”). Danishka Esterhazy directs the first episode, which has recently begun filming in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Michael Eklund (Bobo Del Rey) will be Jobe in WELCOME TO SUDDEN DEATH, a sequel to the 1985 movie “Sudden Death”. In this one, Basketball arena security guard Jesse Freeman (a former special forces officer) does battle with a group of tech-savvy terrorists who kidnap the team’s ovner and Jesse’s daughter. (The original film saw an ex-fireman (Jean Claude Van Damme) foil terrorists at the Stanley Cup Finals.) The two films sound quite similar, but Netflix has (according to Forbes) described the sequel as being a martial arts film with a comedic twist. Written and directed by Dallas Jackson and filmed in Winnipeg, WELCOME TO SUDDEN DEATH will be on Netflix (DVD) on 30 September. A trailer is available on Youtube.
