Christopher Heyerdahl (Sam) will be Hiram Epps in seven episodes of the Amazon horror series THEM:COVENANT. Set in 1953, the show follows a couple (Lucky and Henry Emory, played by Deborah Ayorinde and Ashley Thomas) who decide to move their family from North Carolina to an all-white neighbourhood in Los Angeles. Once they arrive, their new home quickly becomes a spot overrun with evil forces both mundane and supernatural. Allison Pill (STAR TREK: PICARD) and Michael J Harney (PROJECT BLUE BOOK) are also in the cast. The show had its first table read last October, but there is no word yet on a release date.
Matreya Scarrwener (Brittney in “No ‘I’ in Team“) stars as Stacey, a troubled teenage girl who downloads an app called ‘Shall We Play?’ (also the name of the film) which enables her to have conversations with the dead (or maybe she only thinks it does). In the beginning, Stacey uses it to converse with dead relatives for emotional support, but the app soon takes over her life completely. SHALL WE PLAY? is director Ann Forry‘s first feature. The film’s website says that it is “Coming Soon”, but, though IMDB suggests it will be released later this month, no specific date has been announced. A trailer is available on YouTube.
SEASON FIVE NEWS
Kim Coates will be Count Dalibor in the first three episodes of Season Five. (Dalibor is an anagram for diablo. This brings to mind the film Son of Dracula (1943), in which Lon Cheney, Jr. starred as Count Alucard, which is Dracula spelled backwards. Romanian actor Raresh DiMofte will be someone called Captain Rasto, and Dan Cade (who is also a martial artist and gymnast) will be Roberto. Tricia Helfer (Dracula) and Nicole Muñoz (Jack) will also appear in those three episodes. Before production was suspended, Jesse Stanley posted a photo of herself and Muñoz to Instagram from Prague. Helfer posted a photo with several others in the Van Helsing cast, including Heather Doerksen (whose character was beheaded last season) from Bratislava. Jack was last seen trapped in a coffin in Dracula’s dark realm. She could emerge from that place in Europe as easily as anywhere else.
