Neal McDonough (General James Harding) will be Major in MONSTERS OF MAN, a film written and directed by Mark Toia about a robotics company that joins forces with a corrupt CIA agent in an attempt to win a large military contract. Together, they conspire to illegally airdrop four robot prototypes into the Golden Triangle between Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand to perform a live field test on unsuspecting drug lords. One of the bots is damaged in the drop and, as it becomes self-aware, the team loses control of it. MONSTERS OF MAN has completed filming in Cambodia. No release date has been announced.
McDonough will also be the voice of Dum Dum Dugan (aka Timothy Aloysius Cadwallader Dugan) in WHAT IF…, an animated anthology web series (based on the comic book series of the same name created by Roy Thomas in the 70s) that explores what would happen if major moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe occurred in a different way. (The first episode of the new series will pose the question: What if Peggy Carter received the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers?) Narrated by The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright), the ten-episode first season is expected to be released on Disney+ in mid-2021, and work has already begun on a second season.
A petition to Save PROJECT BLUE BOOK has been launched. The show was cancelled by The History Channel after two seasons. At this writing, the petition has more than 11,000 signatures.
Catherine Lough Haggquist (reporter in “Close Encounters“) is January Sinclair in the upcoming fantasy/horror feature BROIL. After a violent incident at school, seventeen-year-old Chance Sinclair (Avery Konrad) is sent to live with August (her reclusive grandfather) at his mountain estate. Granddad is very rich and has an unexplained familial health condition going back generations which piques Chance’s curiosity. Then Chance’s mom (Annette Reilley) hires a dodgy chef (Jonathan Lipnicki) to poison August. Piper Mars, who co-wrote the screenplay with director Edward Drake, told Kelli Marchman McNeely of Horror Fuel: “BROIL explores the ways families hurt each other. I hope the film invites viewers to question the needless secrecy and conflict they have in their lives.” BROIL is scheduled for a VOD release on 13 October.
Michael Harney (General Hugh Valentine) will be R.J. Steele (possibly Robotman’s late father Robert?) in the Season Two premiere of DOOM PATROL. Having defeated Mr. Nobody (Alan Tudyk), the Doom Patrol finds itself miniaturized and stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track. They must confront their past traumatic experiences in order to unify the group so they can effectively protect The Chief’s daughter Dorothy (Abigail Shapiro), whose powers have the potential to bring about the end of the world. The second season of DOOM PATROL will premiere on the HBO Max streaming service on Thursday 25 June. (Episodes will be released simultaneously on DC Universe.)
