RINGER – Season 1 Episode 20 – SPOILERS
Dr. Rao‘s opinion of Catherine’s suicide attempt is somewhat questionable. Though it is possible that the wounds on her wrists would have caused her to bleed out eventually, it would have taken a while. We got to see the wounds. They were oozing, not spurting.
Andrea Roth looks great, even when her character is relatively makeup free in a hospital bed. The high points of the episode were the scenes between Roth and Zoey Deutch.
Siobhan did not wear gloves when attempting to bribe Oxana the Maid. Her fingerprints were all over the envelope (identical twins do not have identical fingerprints). For some reason, Oxana did not bring the envelope to the police, just the money that was in it.
Henry Butler‘s young twin boys (we discover) are named Dash and Dax (or Dex). I’m rooting for the second one’s name to be Dax so there is a Trek tie-in. We are not told who portrays the boys.
RINGER is a very American television show. Violence abounds, especially gun-related violence (although the principal villain, Bodaway Macawi (Zahn McClarnon), seems to prefer using his bare hands). Let’s go over the violent history of the show’s main characters.
Siobhan Martin (Sarah Michelle Gellar) faked her own death so that her husband would murder her sister instead of her. She then shot and killed one of her accomplices (Charlie) after he violated instructions and gunned down her best friend Gemma (Tara Summers). Bridget Martin (SMG #2) shot and killed the first hitman sent after her by Catherine. Andrew Martin (Ioan Gruffudd) was shot by the second assassin Catherine (Andrea Roth) sent for Bridget. Malcolm (Mike Colter) had the crap beaten out of him by Macawi in an effort to find Bridget, then disappeared and was either killed or faked his own death. Henry Butler accidentally killed Tyler Barrett in a hotel room struggle. Tessa Banner (Juliet’s accomplice in the attempt to scam Andrew out of a bunch of money) was severely beaten by Cash Chilton (hired by Catherine without Juliet’s knowledge). Bodaway Macawi strangled two strippers. Agent Machado (Nestor Carbonell) killed one of Catherine’s assassins.
Olivia (Jaime Murray), arguably the least likeable of the shows characters, didn’t kill anyone, and was involved in no violent activity, but disappeared with a lot of money when her ponzi scheme was uncovered and has married an alien. She will be seen next year in DEFIANCE on the SyFy Channel.
And with all that, the ratings are down. Go figure.
