Laura Vandervoort (Elena Michaels) is Mila Dubov (sister of Danika Dubov, played by Kimberly Sue Murray) in V-WARS, a ten-episode series loosely based on the comics written by Jonathan Mayberry. Vandervoort has played a vampire in the past (in The Dresden Files) but the V-Wars Wiki indicates that Mila and Daniika are human. In V-Wars, the melting of very old arctic ice releases an ancient virus that spreads rapidly across the globe. The virus activates long-dormant genes that turn people into vampires, and the world quickly becomes split into warring camps of vampires and humans. Ian Sommerhalder stars as Dr. Luther Swann, who is looking for a cure. V-WARS will be available on Netflix on 5 December. A trailer is available on YouTube.
Greyston Holt (Clayton Danvers) is Brad in A SWEET CHRISTMAS ROMANCE, which stars Adelaide Kane as food stylist Molly, who discovers that Mrs. Rose, the owner of her favourite bakery, is retiring and has started a contest to give the bakery away to anyone capable of recreating her famous Twelve Days of Christmas recipes. Pleasant childhood memories of Mrs. Rose’s baking make Molly enter the contest despite her lack of cooking skills. A local baker (Holt) also enters, and, in the course of the competition, the two begin to fall in love. A trailer is available on Daily Motion. Written by novelist Kim Izzo, A SWEET CHRISTMAS ROMANCE was filmed in Vancouver, and will premiere on Lifetime on 10 November.
Greg Bryk (Jeremy Danvers) will be Inmate 34, a prisoner who manages to escape from maximum security after ten years of incarceration, in SECRET SOCIETY OF SECOND BORN ROYALS. The film’s central character is Sam (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), the rebellious second in line to the throne of Illyria, who has no interest in living the life of a Royal. Sam is surprised to discover that she is developing superpowers (we haven’t been told what they are) and that she is a member of the secret society named in the title — a group with a long tradition of covertly keeping the peace within the kingdom. Queen Catherine is played by Elodie Yung (who was Elektra in ten DAREDEVIL episodes). SECRET SOCIETY OF SECOND BORN ROYALS will be on the Disney+ streaming service sometime next year.
Tommie-Amber Pirie (Paige Winterbourne) will be Susan in GINNY & GEORGIA, a ten-episode series starring Brianne Howey as Georgia Miller, mother of Ginny (Antonia Gentry), and Austin (Diesel La Torraca). After years on the run, Georgia tries to settle down in a picturesque New England town and give her family something resembling a normal life. Ellen (played by Jennifer Robertson of SCHITT’S CREEK), the neighbour across the street, is the mother of 15-year-old twins Maxine (who has a crush on Georgia) and Marcus (who has a possibly reciprocated crush on Ginny). Created by Sarah Lampert, GINNY & GEORGIA will premiere on Netflix sometime next year.
