Lisa Berry (Serena in “ArachnoFaebia“) will be Desiree Holt in THE SISTERHOOD, a made-for-TV film that stars Claire Coffee as Ashley Shields, a woman who has gone through a rough year in which her mother died, her marriage fell apart, and she was passed over for a promotion at work. When her sister Jasmine (Siobhan Murphy) brings her to a woman’s group called “The Sisterhood” led by the charismatic and enigmatic Desiree, she is intrigued. The group gives Ashley everything it promises. She gets a raise in pay, her divorce is resolved in her favour, and she begins to feel fulfilled and happy. But as Ashley learns more about The Sisterhood and is forced to participate in its questionable activities, she realizes she must get out, no matter what the cost. THE SISTERHOOD completed production in Montreal in November. No release date has been announced.
Kris Holden-Ried (Dyson) will be Dom in DEPARTURE, a six-part series that focuses on an investigation into the disappearance of an airliner over the Atlantic Ocean. The series stars Archie Panjabi as Kendra Malley, who has been called in by her former boss (played by Christopher Plummer) to head the investigation. Kendra and her team race against time to pinpoint the location of the crash, locate possible survivors, determine what really happened, and prevent it from happening again. Among others in the cast are: Tamara Duarte (WYNONNA EARP), Kristian Bruun (ORPHAN BLACK), Rebecca Liddiard (FRANKIE DRAKE MYSTERIES), and Paris Jefferson (XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS). Created by Vincent Shiao and Malcolm MacRury, and directed by T.J. Scott, DEPARTURE will be filmed in Toronto and London (UK). It will air on Global TV in Canada later this year.
Inga Cardanel (Aife in “The Mourning After“) is Harmony on the ABC soap GENERAL HOSPITAL. Harmony is the newest member of the Dawn of Day cult led by Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin), and Daisy (Kelsey Wang). Cadranel made her first appearance in Episode 14,263 of the show, which aired on 11 February.
Lyndie Greenwood (Lana in “Table For Fae“) will be Dr. Elvi Okoye in Season Four of THE EXPANSE. In the books, Dr. Okoye is an Earth biologist on an exploratory mission to Illus (New Terra). Her main focus is to obtain uncontaminated samples from the surface of the planet. She helps The Investigator (Miller) disable the planetary defenses that came online when colonists first arrived on Illus. Season Four recently completed production in Toronto, and will be available on Amazon later this year. The first three seasons of THE EXPANSE can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video worldwide.
Rachel Skarsten (Tamsin) will be Elizabeth Kane (aka Alice) in the CW’s BATWOMAN pilot. The show will star Ruby Rose as Kate Kane (aka Batwoman) and will be set well after Batman’s retirement (and three years after the disappearance of Bruce Wayne). Kate is a former military school student and a cousin of Bruce Wayne on his mother’s side.
In the comics, Elizabeth Kane is Kate’s twin sister. Years earlier, Elizabeth and her mother were presumed to have died in a botched terrorist kidnapping. After Kate becomes Batwoman, she discovers that her sister did not die, and has since become leader of one of Gotham’s criminal gangs. Elizabeth was severely traumatized by the failed kidnapping and the death of her mother and has come to identify with Lewis Carroll’s Alice. She becomes one of Kate’s most formidable foes. BATWOMAN will begin filming in British Columbia sometime this spring.
