The great science fiction writer Herbert George Wells had three siblings, at least two of whom were male. All of them were older than he was, and two seem to have been born in Ireland. So there is at least room to suppose that the third older sibling was a female named Helena, as is posited by the writers of WAREHOUSE 13.
It seems that writer Bob Goodman will write the script for the pilot of the WAREHOUSE 13 spinoff that will star Jaime Murray. It is likely that Helena met her doom heroically at the end of the last Warehouse season in order to avoid scheduling conflicts for the actor, who also plays Olivia Charles on the CW’s RINGER. The spinoff will be set in the mid-to-late 19th century (Herbert was born in 1866, so Helena would need to have been born before that). There seems to be some room for crossovers with the other steampunk show on SyFy, Amanda Tapping’s SANCTUARY, and it might be interesting to see Helen Magnus and Helena Wells do some things together.
Although Joanne Kelly has said that she “would love it” if H.G. Wells and Myka Bering developed a relationship, and despite Myka’s loving gaze that was acklowledged by Helena at the end of their last episode together, such a relationship seems more and more unlikely as it now would seem to require time travel. One should, however, never underestimate the powers of artifacts.
I suspect the spinoff will premiere in late 2012.
