Michelle Nolden (Freyja in “Sweet Valkyrie High“) will be Sara West (John’s deceased wife) in NORTHERN RESCUE a new CBC and Netflix family adventure series that follows John West (William Baldwin), who, after the death of his wife, uproots his three children from the big city and returns to his home town to take command of the local Search and Rescue service. The children’s Aunt Charlotte (Kathleen Robertson), struggles to help John and his children heal as she copes with the loss of her sister. Gail Harvey (who directed “There’s Bo Place Like Home“) will direct two of the ten first season episodes. NORTHERN RESCUE began shooting in and around Parry Sound, Ontario in June, and all episodes will be available to stream on the CBC app in December. The show will be broadcast on CBC sometime in 2019.
Anna Silk will be Roarke in BLOOD & TREASURE, an adventure series starring Mat Barr as Danny, an expert on antiquities, and Sofia Pernas as Lexi, an enigmatic and elusive art thief. Together they will try to thwart a terrorist who is funding his activities from the theft of antiques and art. Roarke is described as a skilled international tracker and fighter, and the toughest of her group of mercenaries. She takes no prisoners. BLOOD & TREASURE will air on CBS in Summer, 2019.
Silk will also make a guest appearance in one of the remaining four Season Three episodes of WYNONNA EARP.
Zoie Palmer will be part of the regular cast of the six-episode, half-hour comedy series JANN, which will star Canadian singer/songwriter and author Jann Arden as a fictionalized version of herself. Arden plays a singer of a “certain age” who finds that her music career is on a slow slide into obscurity. But it’s not just Jann’s career that’s on life support. She’s newly single; her sister may disown her; and her mother may be showing the early signs of dementia. Among others in the cast are Patrick Gilmore (TRAVELERS), Sharon Taylor (GHOST WARS), and Elena Juatco (KILLJOYS). There will be “surprise celebrity cameos” as well. JANN will be filming in Calgary until October, and is set to premiere as part of CTV’s 2018/19 schedule.
K.C. Collins (Hale Santiago) is Trey in the romantic crime-thriller HEAVY, which co-stars Sophie Turner and Daniel Zovatto as a very-much-in-love, high-end-drug dealing couple whose lives revolve around trust-fund clients, model parties and crazed drug-fuelled escapades. Life is good for them until a childhood friend (Darrell Britt-Gibson) appears out of nowhere and asks for help with a sketchy deal that sets off an irreversible chain of events where no one is spared. Director Jouri Smit told Melanie Goodfellow of Screen Daily: “From the first read, I fell in love with the script, the story, its colourful language, and especially the tragic characters Seven and Maddie. We couldn’t have found a more perfect couple than Daniel Zovatto and Sophie Turner for those roles.” Written by Seth Miller, HEAVY completed filming in April, and will be released in 2019.
Collins also sings. His debut single, “Girl Where You Been?” featuring Olaf Blackwood, was released recently. The video was directed by Kris Holden-Ried and is available on YouTube. The tune is the first in what K.C. has titled The Mood Project, a compilation of songs, each representing a particular human emotion.
