Missy Peregrym (Scarlett Harker) will star as Special Agent Maggie Bell in the upcoming CBS series F.B.I., which will focus on the inner workings of the Bureau’s New York office. Maggie comes from a family with several generations of law enforcement officers in its history, and she has a talent for putting her own emotions and the emotions of others to constructive use. She is protective of and committed to the people with whom she works. Maggie has recently experienced a personal tragedy (we have not been told what that is), and is making an effort to not let it ruin her career or her life. The pilot was written by showrunner Craig Turk and the first two episodes will be directed by Niels Oplev. Agent Bell’s boss, Ellen, will be played by Connie Neilsen (Queen Hippolyta in WONDER WOMAN). Thirteen episodes have been ordered, and F.B.I. should premiere in late 2018.
TITILLATIONS, a play by Yvette Dudley-Neuman about the North American cultural obsession with breasts and how it impacts women’s health, will have its world premiere at the Shift Theatre in Vancouver at the end of May, as part of the 11th annual SHIFT Festival. The cast will include Dudley-Neuman, Mellisa Oei, and Sarah Vickruck, and the production will be directed by Jamie King. Performances are scheduled for 31 May, 1 June, and 2 June at Russian Hall, 600 Campbell Ave. in Vancouver. Tickets are now on sale.
Below is Yvette’s 2017 interview with Roundhouse Radio about the process of writing the play.
David Cubitt (John in nine Season One episodes) will be Ted Pownall in the first episode of SIREN, a new series starring Eline Powell, Alex Roe, and Fola Evans-Akingbola. Mermaids, angry at humans for polluting their undersea environment, come into conflict with residents of the small coastal town of Bristol Cove. Tammy Gillis, who plays Deputy Marissa Staub in the series, told Cade Taylor of TellTale TV: “One of the things that I love about the show and what I feel is the tone is that women really find their power throughout the series. There are a lot of amazing female characters in the show.” SIREN will have a two-hour premiere on the Freeform Network Thursday 29 March at 8/7c.
Cubitt will also be Detective Kyle Price in THE DETAIL, a police drama that stars Shenae Grimes-Beech, Angela Griffin, and Wendy Crewson as homicide detectives trying to find a balance between their careers and their personal lives. The ten-episode series was filmed in Toronto, and will premiere on CTV in Canada on 25 March at 9pm. It will eventually air on ION TV in the US.
