Morgan Kelly (Alvis Akari) and Kimberly-Sue Murray (Louella Simms) star as Elle and Tyler in the made-for-TV thriller TWISTED, about Kara (Elisabeth Harnois), who has spent months getting her boyfriend Tyler back on his feet after a turbulent time in his life. The two are planning to marry and everything is perfect until Tyler’s ex, Elle, returns from rehab and wants her old boyfriend back. Elle is sexy, outspoken, and daring (and Kara is none of those things). What starts off as one woman’s desire to hold on to her fiancé turns into a twisted game of cat and mouse, as Kara tries to survive Elle’s jealous wrath. Written by Barbara Kymlicka (who wrote TINY HOUSE OF TERROR), and directed by Philippe Gagnon, TWISTED began filming in Montreal in October. There is no word yet on when it will air.
Kelly will also be a character named Manusco in Episodes 3.3 and 3.5 of THE EXPANSE. No information is available on Manusco, but another character, Katoa Merton (Jaeden Noel), who will also appear in both those episodes, is a friend of Prax’s daughter Mei-Meng. Both Katoa and Mei were being treated by Dr. Strickland for Myers-Skelton Premature Immunosenescence on Ganymede, and the two are assumed to have been kidnapped by the doctor, and subjected to the influence of the protomolecule. One might speculate that Manusco will somehow help Prax locate Dr. Strickland and his experimental subjects.
Maxime Savaria (Ruby’s unnamed sex partner in “A Skinner, Darkly“) is Somsak in the action drama KICKBOXER: RETALIATION, a film set one year after the events of KICKBOXER: VENGEANCE (2016), Kurt Sloan (Alain Moussi) vowed never to return to Thailand, but he wakes one day to find himself in a Thai prison, and learns that his kidnappers want him to fight a very large man named Mongkut (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson). In return for the fight, Kurt will receive two million dollars and have his freedom back. He at first refuses, but soon learns he has no choice. KICKBOXER: RETALIATION will be released in Singapore on 25 January and in the US one day later. A trailer is available on YouTube.
Kelly McCormack (Zeph) is Stacy in the crime thriller A SIMPLE FAVOR, an adaptation of Darcey Bell’s 2017 debut novel, which centers around Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a ‘mommy blogger’ who seeks to uncover the truth behind the sudden disappearance of her best friend Emily (Blake Lively). (Stephanie picks up Emily’s son after school one day, but Emily never shows up to collect him.) Filmed near Toronto, A SIMPLE FAVOR will be released in the Czech Republic on 25 October 2018.
McCormack will also be Ms. Vara in episode three of CRAWFORD, a half-hour comedy that follows thirty year old Don (Kyle Mac) who is forced by circumstance to move back into the home of his polyamorous parents and turn his facility with raccoons into a profitable business. All twelve episodes of CRAWFORD will be available on the CBC website on 2 February.
