Dinner with Anna Silk (and director Milena Govich) is one of the perks being offered for backers ($5000 or more) of the short film TEMPORARY, a comedic drama about one person’s radical choice at the end of a loved one’s life. Details about the film are sparse, and the cast has not been revealed.
Govich, whose most recent TV role was as Lori Stevens in MTV’S FINDING CARTER, describes her inspiration for the film this way: “I was only 21 when my father was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia. I remember sitting next to him on his hospital bed, mentally plotting how I could kidnap him to escape the physically painful “treatment” that would only prolong the inevitable. I faced this same challenge with my grandmother last fall…Why do we have to merely sit by and make the patient ‘comfortable’ when they are begging to go, to escape a savage disease?…This conundrum is the inspiration for this short film, but it’s explored in a truly unexpected way.”
Marie Ward (Lou Ann Heidinger) is Bethany in DEARLY DEPOTTED, the third in a series of Flower Shop Mysteries, which are based on the novels by Kate Collins. In this one, Abby Knight, ex-lawyer, amateur detective, and owner of Bloomers Flower Shop, needs to find out who murdered someone who crashed her cousin’s wedding (at which she was a bridesmaid). DEARLY DEPOTTED will premiere 26 June at 9pm on The Hallmark Channel.
Christine Horne will be Chablis in Jeremy LaLonde’s next feature, THE GO GETTERS, currently being filmed in Toronto. It will be the fifth LaLonde film in which Horne has appeared. (She is Ellie in LaLonde’s most recent film, HOW TO PLAN AN ORGY IN A SMALL TOWN, which is now on iTunes.) Horne’s voice has joined the cast of the short film COME BACK, which director Hannah Anderson describes as a conversation about death, inspired by the sudden passing of her friend, actor Kent Nolan, in 2014.
Katie Boland is Rebekah in JOSEPH AND MARY, a film which, despite the title, seems to be the story of Elijah, a devout Rabbi, during the time of King Herod’s ‘slaughter of innocents’. Elijah makes it his life’s mission to avenge the deaths of two boys who had been under his protection, but when he meets Joseph (Kevin Sorbo), Mary (Lara Jean Chorostecki), and their young son, the beliefs fueling his revenge are called into question. JOSEPH AND MARY is expected to be released on iTunes on 4 July. The DVD can be pre-ordered from Amazon (Release date 5 July). A trailer is on YouTube.
