Michelle Nolden (Freya) is Dr. Laura Stevens, an obsessive peak-performance trainer, in RUN TO ME. a thriller about an amateur triathlete (Claire Forlani) who convinces the doctor to take her on as a client. Once she does, she gets more from Dr. Stevens than she bargained for. The film’s trailer is quite compelling. Nolden is also CIA Agent Carmen Reese in a sci-fi thriller about a time-travelling terrorist, PRISONER X, which will have a theatrical release in Canada on 15 April, and in the US on 6 April. And the 2013 horror film HAUNTER, which also stars Nolden, can be streamed on Netflix (US).
Lara Jean Chorostecki (the opera singer in LOST GIRL episode 4.6), is Krystina Breeland on the CBC World War II spy series X COMPANY, and she is in two films coming out this year. She will be Kris in the sci-fi movie RENAISSANCE, scheduled for US release on 31 December. In the film, an accidental death forces two genetic researchers to create a clone of the deceased in a desperate effort to maintain funding for their work. And Chorostecki is Michelle in THE MASKED SAINT, which was inspired by true events in the life of former wrestler and pastor Chris Whaley and is based on his bestselling book about an ex-wrestler turned priest turned vigilante. The film premiered in US and Canadian theatres last January, and can be pre-ordered from iTunes (release date 5 April).
Jadyn Wong (Trick’s old friend Dao-Ming) will be Altagracia in Me estás matando Susana (YOU’RE KILLING ME, SUSANA), the story of a man’s quest to find and recover his wife, Susana, who has, without a word, left Mexico City to attend a writer’s conference in Iowa. It is a funny, painful, and romantic journey. The film is a Canadian/Mexican production, shot in Winnipeg and Mexico City, and will have its Mexican release on 5 May. Director Roberto Schneider told John Hopewell of Variety: “…the film is about someone who loves his wife, who is not a macho but labors under the import of a machista ideology which impacts some situations. José Agustin, the novelist, took this idiosyncrasy to the center of the U.S., where such attitudes are not so normal.”
The Paul Gross film HYENA ROAD with Christine Horne as Jennifer is now available on iTunes. Horne is also Ellie in the latest Jeremy LaLonde film, HOW TO PLAN AN ORGY IN A SMALL TOWN, which opened the Canadian Film Fest in Toronto on 30 March and will get a Canada/US release in theatres and on VOD on 13 May. (In Australia, ORGY has already been released on DVD and digital.) Horne’s character Ellie appears in two other LaLonde films: BASTARDS, and SEX AFTER KIDS.
Anna Hardwick (Maddy in Faes Wide Shut) plays a yoga instructor and Alex Paxton-Beesley is Claire in the short film SHAVASANA, about a young woman trying to relieve the pain of regret through yoga. The film had its world premiere at the 2015 Atlantic Film Festival, and was screened last week at the Canadian Film Fest in Toronto.
Hardwick is now co-owner of a B&B in Picton, Ontario called The Ferg. (The name derives from the first owner of the land, a woman named Anna Ferguson, who bought the property from the Crown for fifty pounds in 1813.) The child friendly and pet friendly B&B opened on 18 March.
