LOST GIRL – Season 5 Episode 15 – SPOILERS
Dyson, who as recently as Episode 5.5 has said that he hates cats, watched as his son Mark shifted for the first time into a panther. Kenzi got to ride the last of the unicorns (which had been rescued by the Dark Fae after his horn was chopped off by poachers). Remember that the first episode of Season 5 begins with Bo climbing a crag singing “She’ll be coming round the mountain when she comes”? The six white horses in that song turn up, and seem very glad to see Bo. When the horseshoe forged by Hephaestus turns out to be too large for a fire breathing horse, Bo deduces that she is The Pyrippus, at least metaphorically.
This episode co-incidentally aired on SyFy right in the middle of the (quite justified) uproar about Lexa‘s death on THE 100, Tamsin endures some pretty rough treatment. After being impregnated against her will, she is kidnapped and imprisoned by her rapist (Hades), who also clips her wings. Then we are told that she will die in childbirth (Valkyries always do), becoming the
138th 143rd 148th lesbian or bisexual television character to be killed off. (See list on Autostraddle.)
Tipped off by Vex, who survived having his throat slashed in the previous episode, Bo visits Evony (Emmanuelle Vaugier) in an attempt to locate Lou Ann Heidinger (played by Marie Ward), the midwife who rescued her from Tartarus when she was an infant. We learn that the former Morrigan has given up on Lauren as a source of a cure for her involuntary humanity, and has launched a campaign to raise money to cure her “disease”. Evony looks too good to be human, and not at all ill. She may have somehow managed to turn herself Fae again and just isn’t telling anyone.
Explaining why she, in the past, had wanted Bo killed, Evony tells her: “When I couldn’t figure out what made you tick, I wanted you dead. What else do you do with a weird mole? Burn it off.”
Turns out that after Trick saved Lou Ann from execution, Evony found her and hid her away, figuring she might someday be useful. She put the former midwife in charge of the Dark Fae horses.
Toronto jazz singer Shakura S’Aida (Dark Fae Elder #2) is Lena in four episodes of SCHITT’S CREEK. Her fourth appearance (in Episode 2.12 “Lawn Signs”) will air in Canada on 22 March. Vanessa Matsui is also in the cast of that episode. S’Aida’s first SCHITT’S CREEK appearance (in Episode 2.3) will be broadcast on PopTV in the US on 6 April. On 19 March, the singer will perform as part of Southern Blues Night at the Limburg Theatre in Heerlen, The Netherlands.
Sandra Chwialkowska, who wrote this episode of LOST GIRL, also wrote some of the REELZ mini-series AFTER CAMELOT (based on the book by J. Randy Taraborrelli) , which will follow the lives of the Kennedy family after the assassinations. It is scheduled to air in early 2017. Chwialkowska wrote four other LOST GIRL episodes including The Kenzi Scale.
Mairzee Almas, who directed this episode, will direct episode 2.5 of 12 MONKEYS, due to air sometime in June, and Episode 2.16 of iZombie which will be broadcast on 29 March. Almas directed two other LOST GIRL episodes: When God Opens a Window, and Of All the Gin Joints.
