Episode two featured House-like analysis by Dr. Hunt (Dana Delany) and a reasonably interesting story. But the most interesting thing was Dr. Hunt’s fascination with the torn jacket of Detective Bud Morris. She clearly has obsessive-compulsive tendencies that go beyond her obsession for her work. Morris is played by John Carroll Lynch who was Drew Carey’s cross-dressing brother on THE DREW CAREY SHOW.
Dr. Hunt ends up offering to sew the jacket for Morris (he doesn’t know a good dry cleaner that does repairs?) and perhaps she is just looking for a way to break the ice with one of her colleagues, but the tear wasn’t major and most people wouldn’t have noticed it.
The absolutely weird interaction between Dr. Hunt and Dr. Brumfield continued. Brumfield is played by Windell D. Middlebrooks who has been in doctor shows a couple of times before (ER and SCRUBS) but never as a doctor. For some reason, Dr. Hunt does not take him seriously. I assume she has a good reason for this, and it has nothing to do with his obesity, but we just haven’t been told this yet.
The other doctor (Forensic Pathology Fellow Ethan Gross) seems very young and a bit insecure about himself professionally. Hunt pretty much ignores him. Not wishing to stereotype this guy, but he reminds me a bit of Dr. Joel Fleischman of NORTHERN EXPOSURE. Ethan Gross is played by Geoffrey Arend, who was the voice of Charles ‘Upchuck’ Ruttheimer III on the animated series DARIA.
Jeri Ryan is trying very hard not to look like a borg.
But really, Dana Delany is why I’m watching, and, I suspect, why most people are watching.
I have stopped saying that I like TV shows, because when I do, they inevitably get cancelled. But I am interested in this one.
