The latest House episode was disappointing in a couple of ways. To begin with, what seemed to be an interesting medical case was turned into a vehicle to shock the audience. I will buy the possibility that, as happened earlier in the series, a nasty dictator might seek treatment from House giving Chase an opportunity to kill him. There are lots of dictators, they tend to be old and not particularly health conscious, and they have lots of money. But having a serial killer turn up masquerading as a homeless person, and then having him successfully escape from the hospital just prior to the FBI’s arrival, is stretching the bounds of probability.
The other disappointment was that Martha Masters (Amber Tamblyn), though she was there and had lines, really did nothing in this episode. She made no contribution to the diagnosis, and her character was not furthered in any noticeable way.
