LOST GIRL NOTES – The Girlfriend Experience
Christine Horne in UNLESS, Rob Archer Returns to Defiance
Jenny Raven (Libra in O Kappa My Kappa) will be Erin’s Assistant in three episodes of THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE, a STARZ series based on Stephen Soderbergh’s 2009 film of the same name about the adventures of a high-priced Manhattan call girl. (Anthony Sherwood, who will appear in the LOST GIRL series finale as a Light Fae Elder, will be Garrett Stern in at least two episodes of that series.) Raven will also be Nadine in the gambling thriller COLD DECK, due out later this year.
Tammy Gillis (Marissa in Table for Fae) has been cast in the lead role of Claire, a hedonistic soccer mom who embarks on a strange journey of self discovery, in the film MENORCA, which will begin shooting in Canada and Spain soon. It will be directed by John Bernard, who directed the award winning 2009 documentary LOST BONES: IN SEARCH OF SITTING BULL’S GRAVE. Other announced cast members are Sheila Campbell and Dora Carroll. The next television appearance for Gillis will be as Carla in episode five of TIES THAT BIND, a new show set in Atlanta (but filmed in Vancouver) centered around a police detective (Kelli Williams) raising four teenagers. The series is set to premiere on the UP Network on 12 August.

Vanessa Matsui (Cassie) tweeted this on 15 June: “Spent the day with some hilarious beautiful people! @cbc @schittscreek #lovemyjob #bts” along with the photo on the right. This seems to indicate that Matsui will make an appearance in the series, season 2 of which will air on CBC in early 2016.
PIXELS, the Adam Sandler comedy with Rob Archer (Bruce) as Seal will have its North American release on 24 July. Archer returns to DEFIANCE as George in episode 3.4, titled “Dead Air”, due for broadcast 26 June on SyFy (US). In Canada, Defiance airs Sundays at 9pm on Showcase.
Christine Horne (The Keeper) will be Dr. Lyra Grange in episode five of KILLJOYS, and will make her first appearance on MURDOCH MYSTERIES in the fifth episode of Season 9. Horne plays an as yet unnamed character in UNLESS, Alan Gilsenan’s movie adaptation of the late Canadian novelist Carol Shields‘ book about a writer whose oldest daughter drops out of college and ends up on a Toronto street corner panhandling and apparently unable to speak. That film won’t be released until sometime in 2016.
Chloe Rose (Julia Jenkins in Lovers. Apart.) also plays a thus far nameless character in UNLESS, and she was the colonist with the pendant that matched the one that Jace Corso found under his pillow in DARK MATTER’s first episode. Rose will be Constance in episode four of KILLJOYS, which should air on SyFy and The Space Channel on 10 July.
