Tamsen McDonough (Dr. Snook’s receptionist in the LOST GIRL episode In Memoriam) will be the voice of Lucy, the spaceship that is a central character on KILLJOYS, Michelle Lovretta’s new show premiering on SyFy and the Space Channel on 19 June. The Space Channel Blog describes Lucy as “…a small private ship with a distinct personality, who has ties to the Killjoys back to the day that Dutch and John first met. She has served them well ever since, and while not one to play favourites, Lucy often demonstrates a distinct fondness for John. Comprised of a small cockpit, Spartan sleeping quarters, and a lounge area, Lucy provides the team with interplanetary transportation, as well as a private work/live space.”
In other KILLJOYS news, Kris, Stephanie, and Annie (who regularly bring us the LOST GIRL podcast DRINKS AT THE DAL, and the ORPHAN BLACK podcast TATIANA IS EVERYONE) have launched a KILLJOYS podcast called THE QUAD. Episode One, An Introduction to KILLJOYS, is now online.
Courtney Deelen turned up in Season 3 Episode 4 of ORPHAN BLACK as the lead Prolethean hymn singer. She’s the one standing by the piano singing as Gracie is brought into the house. Deelan was the seamstress tortured by Vex at the very beginning of LOST GIRL 4.1.
In case you missed it, Ksenia Solo made an extraordinary impact as Shay, the new love interest for Cosima (Tatiana Maslany), in episode 3.5 of ORPHAN BLACK (Scarred By Many Past Frustrations). I’m sure other things happened in that episode, but Cosima’s almost-too-good-to-be-true internet date overshadowed everything else. Fans of Delphine (Evelyne Brochu), Cosima’s ex, are a bit upset, but Brochu will certainly be nominated for some awards for her portrayal of the conflicted, well-meaning but duplicitous Delphine, as well as for her portrayal of the spy Aurora Luft on CBC’s X-COMPANY (especially for her performance in episode 3 of that series “Kiss of Death“).
According to IMDB, Solo will appear in all the remaining Season Three episodes of ORPHAN BLACK.
Katriina Isberg (the woman Bo dances with to Cruise Low by Thunderheist in Turn to Stone) is Alexis in the film RECALL, about two brothers who are given a chance at a fresh start, but must confront a mafia kimgpin to achieve it. Katie Uhlman (of Katie Chats) is also in the cast. RECALL has almost completed filming in Toronto, and should be released in Canada later this year.
Samantha Espie (Pietra, the Scavenger Fae) will be Mrs. Colby in THE RAINBOW KID, due to be released in Canada on 1 June. The film is about Eugene (Dylan Harman), a boy with Down syndrome who cultivates an obsession with rainbows to escape bullying and neglect. Eugene sets out on an adventure across rural Ontario and encounters a host of larger than life characters.
