Lanette Ware, who will be a nurse in LOST GIRL episode 5.13, is Velma in UNDONE, a film by Director X which examines racial tensions in Nova Scotia. Director X (who also directed the LOST GIRL episode Waves) told the Halifax Chronicle-Herald. “For my first movie to be a Nova Scotia story feels serendipitous. When I grew up in Toronto, the black Nova Scotian community — the Scotians, as we called them — left a strong impression on me. It’s a world very few know about — a unique, special place.” UNDONE will be released sometime next year.
Ware was also Susan Boyd in the 2011 film DONOVAN’S ECHO, in which a man plagued by déjà vu becomes convinced that he can, in a limited way, predict the future. DONOVAN’S ECHO, which won three Leo Awards in 2012, can currently be streamed on Netflix (US).
Inga Cadranel (Bo’s birth mom) is Police Chief Anna Cervantes in the FOX TV series BACKSTROM, the season finale of which aired on 30 April. She appears in episodes one, three, and thirteen. BACKSTROM is based on a series of novels by Swedish crimminologist Leif G. W. Persson. The central character is Everett Backstrom, a self-destructive, extremely offensive, but brilliant police detective. The show is available on Amazon Instant Video, and iTunes, but right now all 13 episodes are available for free on the FOX website. The TV adaptation is set in Portland, Oregon, but was mostly filmed in Vancouver.
PATCH TOWN, starring Zoie Palmer as Bethany, will be available on iTunes (US and Canada) on
5 June, and can now be pre-ordered. (A detailed plot outline is available on the film’s Facebook Page.) Allana Harkin, PATCHTOWN’s Detective Carlisle, was “coach” in LOST GIRL episode 2.16 – School’s Out.
Kris Holden-Ried tweeted on 1 MAY: “Last day of prep for Epitaph! Yikes Wish me luck! Hope all is well in the real world!”. He attached a picture of the script’s cover page. On it, the authors listed are Ian Fisher, Scott Cavalheiro (Tad in LOST GIRL episode 5.4, When God Opens a Window), and James Gosbee. Plato Fountindakis (stunt coordinator for 48 LOST GIRL episodes) is Executive Producer of THE EPITATH, and Ron Murphy directs. The film asks the question: “What would you do if you knew the date you were going to die, but not the year?” Jennifer Liao (Sean’s assistant in SEX AFTER KIDS and director of the soon-to-be-released END OF DAYS, INC.) has a small role.
