BITTEN – Season 2 Episode 4 – SPOILERS
There is a fascinating scene in which Elena, still in human form, adopts submissive wolf postures to avoid a fight with another werewolf. Aleister needs her to become the wolf so he can get her wolfblood. (He needs the blood of the strongest werewolf and the strongest witch to bring about The Undoing.) Elena, it turns out, is the strongest werewolf, and teenaged Savannah (Kiara Glasco), who has yet to come into her powers, is the strongest witch. The two of them are in adjoining cells in Aleister’s compound, and, after getting off to a shaky start, they are becoming friends.
After raising one of Aleister’s human minions from the dead for purposes of interrogation, Ruth is exhausted. She wakes from a nap in front of the Stonehaven fireplace and says to her daughter, “It’s good to be home.” Paige responds: “We’re not at home. We’re at Stonehaven.” Ruth might have just been confused, or she may have let slip that at one time, Stonehaven was her home. If so, the wolves and the witches must be intimately related.
These are scientific witches. Whatever Aleister is attempting (we have not yet been told just what The Undoing might be) he has hired a scientist (Dr. Sondra Bauer, played by Carly Street) to make it happen. Ruth (Tammy Isbell) is able to raise the dead because the brain of a dead person (she says) retains a slight electrical charge for a few hours after death.
Rachel (Genelle Williams) is forced to watch Elena change into a wolf. (Elena changes to prevent Aleister from killing Rachel, who is very pregnant.) We get to see Elena the Wolf as a reflection in Rachel’s eye. (Elena Undone meets Reflections in a Golden Eye?)
Laura Vandervoort is backing #BeCrueltyFree Canada – see ad on left in which she and her dog Frankie say ‘no’ to cosmetics cruelty. Vandervoort also serves on the Advisory Board of the Hugs and Kisses Animal Fund, which is dedicated to raising funds for small mom and pop animal rescue groups.
This is the fourth episode of BITTEN directed by two time Canadian Comedy Award winner James Dunnison. Dunnison also directed LOST GIRL episode 2.16 (titled School’s Out), and eight episodes of the CITY-TV series SEED.
Michael Xavier (Logan Jonsen) is Jake in the film ’88’, a very strange mystery/adventure that can be streamed on Netflix (US). In the film (directed by April Mullen) a woman (Katherine Isabelle) finds herself in a diner with no memories of how she got there or who she is. Despite the blood and gore, it’s not a horror film.
Kiara Glasco (Savannah) is also Cammy, the dying girl visited by Benjie in hospital, and whose ghost later haunts him in David Cronenberg’s MAPS TO THE STARS (now on iTunes US), and she
was young Gracie in the 2013 film I’LL FOLLOW YOU DOWN which starred Gillian Anderson and can
now be streamed on Amazon Instant Video.
