LOST GIRL – Season 5 Episode 8 – SPOILERS
BO: “That’s why you really sent the oracles after me. You were after my box.”
ZEE: “I’m not leaving without it.”
The Bo/Zee wrestling match (in evening gowns) that follows that exchange is definitely worth watching, but this is another ‘I miss Kenzi’ moment. That line about the box should have been Kenzi’s.
The big news is that Lauren and Bo are back together, or at least they intend to get back together when they are done saving the world. Tamsin tells Bo at the beginning of the episode: “You and Lauren, you two will always be a couple, even when you’re not.” At the party, when Bo asks Lauren to come back to her, Lauren is unsure of the situation, but after Tamsin explains to Lauren the inevitability of things, Lauren tells Bo yes.
Zee (Amanda Walsh) needs to hook up with somebody. The only reasonable options seem to be Tamsin (who is unlikely to be receptive given the thunderbolt), Evony (who is busy trying to become Fae again and Zeus might have the power to grant her that wish), and Trick (Rick Howland), who is the best candidate. (The name of that ship might be Trickzee.) They did have a flirty moment at the Dal in episode 5.6.
It is doubtful that the thunderbolt killed Tamsin. The lightning seems to strike her just below the right shoulder, an area which, when she is speaking to Zee on the balcony, is covered by long Valkyrie tresses. We know that Valkyrie hair cannot be cut under normal circumstances. Perhaps it insulates against lightning strikes.
Who are the other folks at the party? Are they all Fae? Most are wearing dark colours, but there is one very noticeable woman in a bright dress. She was not visible in the crowd that greeted Bo when she arrived, but appears four times later in the episode as she circulates through the crowd.
This episode is a bit like a game of Dungeons and Dragons, and that might indicate that a LOST GIRL game (for Playstation perhaps) is in the planning stages. If one thinks of the condo where the party takes place as the dungeon, the following are some of the things that could be dungeonmaster decisions:
- The gang enters from an elevator. Lauren asks (twice) if they should consider whether this might be a trap. Bo ignores her both times.
(It turns out not to be.)
- Lauren checks Bo’s drink for poison. (It has none.)
- Lauren’s decision: O Boy Yes or O Boy No?
- Bo chooses a tool to enable Zee to cut daddy’s handprint from her chest. (The dagger is a clever pick, because it protects against any evil intent on the part of Zee.)
- Zee and Tamsin discuss how to deal with emotional trauma. (Instead of kissing her, Zee strikes Tamsin with a bolt of lightning.)
- Mark fails to look behind him and is stabbed by CiCi’s mother.
- Bo (having acquired the power of the black hand) chooses to believe her father rather than her aunt, and opens the music box.
There are objects of power as well, such as Iris’s bracelet and the Aegis shield.
Eric Roberts (Bo’s dad?) will star as Trent Walker in COWBOYS vs DINOSAURS, a sci-fi flick due to be released in the US on 12 June. A mine explosion releases dinosaurs to terrorize a small town in the western US, and a group of gunslingers band together to defend against the invaders.
LOST GIRL’s IMDB page lists Roberts’ character in episode 5.8 as “The Ancient”, not as Hades.
Noam Jenkins (Hera) is Aiden Peters in DEAD ON CAMPUS, a film that premiered on Liftime last November. A college freshman seduces an introverted nerd and films it (to gain admission to a sorority) and the video goes viral. It will next air on Lifetime on 21 February at 12pm.
