DARKNET, the Netfilx horror series by Vincenzo Natali and Steven Hoban, was inspired by the Japanese television show TORIHADA, a series of docudramas about strange and mysterious true events. DARKNET is a series of macabre vignettes connected only by “…a mysterious closed network of disturbing imagery and stories that exist just under the surface of our ordered and safe society.” The casting directors for DARKNET are Lisa Parasyn and Jon Comerford, who were also casting directors for 44 episodes of LOST GIRL.
DARKNET 2 features Lina Roessler (Ciara the
Fairy-Scuffock hybrid) as Lora, a mischievous, geeky, recently dumped businesswoman who is only peripherally involved with the plot, but somehow becomes the central focus of the episode. There is also a very brief (but memorable) appearance by Casey Hudecki. (Hudecki, who was Anna Silk‘s LOST GIRL stunt double, also did stunts for DARKNET 1.)
Katie Boland is Kim, and Arnold Pinnock (Bertram the Albaster) is Stuart in DARKNET 4. Both of them become the victims of outlaw medical personnel. Alisen Down (Isabeau) makes an appearance as Beth, the suicide hotline caller. Anyone who understands this episode, please explain it in the comments section.
And in DARKNET 6, Chloe Rose (the girl in Lovers Apart who konks Bo on the head with a frying pan) is Shari, a laundromat attendant who gets an interesting birthday surprise.
30th BIRTHDAY, a Hallmark movie due to air on 18 April, will feature Anthony Lemke (Ryan the Loki) as Reed, Karen Cliche (Diana the Mermaid) as Kate Moore, and Jennifer Dale (Leviathan) as Shirley. It’s a romcom and it’s described this way: “A down-on-her-luck birthday girl suddenly receives everything she ever wished for, only to realize the happy life she wanted was right in front of her all along.” Filming is now underway in Sudbury, Ontario.
Rachel Skarsten and Emmanuelle Vaugier will be guests at Planet Comicon in Kansas City 13-15 March. Skarsten is currently in Malta filming something called THE COVE, a film about which no details are yet available.
