Toronto actor and DJ Samantha Michelle, who was Lisa in the film THE CAPTIVE (Christine Horne is Vicky in that film) will make her first television appearance as Astrid in episode 5.10 of LOST GIRL. The episode will be titled Like Father, Like Daughter. The title might be a variant of LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON, a 1987 film that involved a father and son switching bodies. No father of a main LOST GIRL character has thus far made an appearance in the series, though The Pyrippus, who might be Bo’s dad, threatened to show up in the Season 4 finale.
KITSUNE NEWS — Sydney Leeder (Kasey the Kitsune) is Eleanor in BANG BANG BABY, a film described by its director Jeffrey St. Jules as “a surreal, fever-dream fusion of small-town musical and 1950s sci-fi”. BANG BANG BABY will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival (first showing will be 8 September at 7:15pm). Alex Paxton Beesley (Lola the Kitsune) stars as Meagan in the romantic comedy DIRTY SINGLES, which will have its world premiere at the Calgary International Film Festival (first screening is on 24 September at 7pm).
Katie Boland (LG 2.6) stars as Alicia, and Chloe Rose (Julia Jenkins in LG 4.3) is Marley in PEOPLE HOLD ON, a film about group of friends who spend a weekend together at the cottage (they haven’t done that in a while) and are forced to confront their relationship difficulties. The cast are all apparently old friends in real life. The movie is due out sometime in 2015, and a tralier is now on YouTube.
Anna Hardwick (Maddie in Faes Wide Shut) will be Stephanie in the short film SATISFACTION, provided it meets its Indegogo funding goal. Mika Collins (Kasha in 4 episodes of DEFIANCE) is also in the cast. Writer/Producer Dana Fradkin, who also will play the lead character Maryke, explained her inspiration for the film this way:
“I was with my mother, brother and sister-in-law in Israel and we were taking the bus from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and as we looked out the window, we saw a very disturbed women walking along the highway in a wedding dress with running shoes. Her dress was dishevelled and she held a bouquet in her hands. She seemed to be very unhappy and walked as if she was in a trance. A few hours later, after we had checked into our hotel and changed, we were out on a patio, dining. She walked by us again. Still in a trance and still looking very unhappy.”
The Great Canadian Talent Face-Off (see poster on right), a film trivia contest with Katie Boland on Team B and Zoie Palmer on Team A, was held in Toronto on 6 September. Team A won.
