“What chance is there for any real change when anyone can go back and tweak events in their favour? Everyone believes in the do-over. You just press reset and start again. But it’ll never last.”
—- Sonya Valentine
Curtis Chen was brought back to life by The Traveller, and a similar thing may have happened to Stefan Jaworski. The Traveller has technology inside of him that can do these things. If Sonya gets resurrected, she’s gonna be upset.
There has been a big shake-up in LIBER8. The opportunistic psychologist Matthew Kellog has taken over Piron and Brad Tonkin arrived from the near future to let the revolutionaries know that Kellog runs the whole show in 2039, and has precipitated a descent into tribalism. In Tonkin’s future, Alec Sadler is in no way famous, or dangerous. Tonkin’s revelations caused Liber8 to refocus its strategies to combat the Kellog-ruled future of 2039 instead of the Sadler-ruled future of 2077.
Curtis Chen, you see, has rescued The Traveller from the clutches of Cellkeeper Catherine, and joined forces with Kellog. (To what end is still unclear.) With Sonya, Stefan Jaworski, and Edouard Kagame dead, LIBER8
gets an infusion of new blood. A politically awakened Kiera
Cameron, her new boyfriend Brad Tonkin, Alec Sadler, his
son Justin, and Emily all join up.
The new bad guys are Matthew Kellog, Curtis Chen, The Traveller, and whoever those six armoured folk were who arrived from the future (probably 2039) in response to Brad’s signal. Brad recognizes them, so they are probably from 2039 (let’s call them The ’39ers), and the Traveller is apparently at least aware of their arrival.
There is nothing to indicate that CONTINUUM’s Traveller is in any way connected to the STAR TREK character of the same name. (Wesley Crusher’s friend from Tau Alpha C was called that because his own name was unpronounceable. The Trek character did have similar powers.)
Magda Apanowicz (Emily) plays Serena Hilgrim, a young gay introvert, in the 2014 film A REASON. Director Dominique Schilling says she wanted to make a film “that might not bring a broken family back together, but that speaks of harsh realities faced within family units. A film that might not mend all loose ends…but that opens a door to a new beginning and maybe gives hope through self-reflection.” The film’s score received a nomination from the 2013 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
Tahmoh Penikett (Jim Martin in 5 episodes of CONTINUUM) will star as Cafferty in the film PAINKILLERS which was filmed in Calgary, Alberta and is due to be released 5 March 2015. A group of mercenaries (led by Cafferty) is sent to Afganistan but wakes up in a mental hospital instead with no Afgan memories and are told that half their team is dead. After they are given a new medication for PTSD, they begin to recall things.
