The final episode of LOST GIRL Season 4, including the rescue of Evony and Lauren (and all the deaths), will be fully discussed in another post. I previously mentioned SyFy’s removal of a Kenzi moment from episode 4.10. In the Season 4 finale, a dreadful edit was performed on Bo and Lauren’s final scene.
It’s one thing to cut things with the goal of making sex less graphic (SyFy doesn’t do that.) but it’s entirely another thing to edit the emotions of the characters. No one has claimed responsibility for this redaction. Some say that LOST GIRL’s Executive Producer Jay Firestone approves all changes. I will present here the audio from the original scene as aired in the rest of the world, and follow with the SyFy edit of the same scene, as aired in the US. Listen to them both. You will see the problem. (Apologies for the quality of the Showcase recording. The SyFy recording runs a tiny bit into the next scene.)
Lost Girl – Season 4 – Lauren and Bo’s last scene – SHOWCASE VERSION:
Lost Girl – Season 4 – Lauren and Bo’s last scene – SYFY VERSION:
Lauren and Bo’s situation is a bit similar to that of Rick and Ilsa in the scene (below) from CASABLANCA (1942). Imagine that scene if just the two lines below had been cut from it.
ILSA: What about us?
RICK: We’ll always have Paris. If we didn’t have, we’d lost it until you came to Casablanca. We got it back last night.
Was relieved to see this tweet from DRINKS AT THE DAL:
@zickzick28 All the region 1 DVD sets that have been released so far have the full, Canadian versions of episodes.
