I picked up the first two books of poems by Amber Tamblyn. The first one, Free Stallion, was published in 2005 and we just won’t talk about that one.
The second, BANG, DITTO, may become my go-to book for relevant illustrative quotations. Published in 2009 by Manic D Press, this is the best book of poems by a new poet that I’ve read in many years. I would not even begin to try to review this. But I will recommend it and give a couple of excerpts:
From: THE EVE OF A PRESIDENCY
“Before the left tit-ache of an election
comes back to taste us once more
I’m gonna leave his apartment,
walk down Essex St. under beautiful morning sunlight
and leave a trail of life vests behind me.”
From: TRUST HAIKU
“Never trust mirrors.
